At CMF Running, we believe running is more than just training plans and races—it’s about connection, growth, and belonging. We’re a community of passionate runners and experienced professional coaches, working together to help every athletes train with purpose and run with freedom.

What sets CMF apart is our personalised approach. We deliver 1:1 coaching tailored to your life, goals, and challenges. Our coaching is designed to build strong, healthy, and happy runners—because consistency, resilience, and enjoyment are what unlock long-term performance.

Alongside our coaching team, we’ve built a vibrant community of CMF RUN CLUB runners who support each other through the highs and lows of training and racing. Whether you’re chasing a marathon PB, stepping up to an ultra, or simply looking to run stronger and injury-free, you’ll find encouragement, accountability, and expertise within the CMF crew.

Through partnerships with trusted professionals and our network of CMF Discount Partners, our athletes also gain access to extra support—making CMF more than coaching, but a complete running community.

How it all began

Hey, we’re Chris & Char, founders of CMF Running.

We live in a house bus full-time, which is awesome because it allows us to travel to events and support the runners we coach! We met in 2019 and started CMF in 2020. CMF stands for Custom Made Fitness

Together we discovered a shared passion for helping others with their running, realising a strong craving for personalized run coaching existed in NZ. While apps, ready-to-go plans, and group event plans have their place, we found that what our CMF Crew truly wanted was 1:1 coaching. This means bespoke run training, mentoring, and guidance through the ups and downs of life and training to achieve the best results and run free!

Although this approach limits the number of runners we can coach at one time, it allows us to make a real and lasting impact on your running, and we, as coaches, find it truly fulfilling .

Fitness (the F in CMF!) stands for "The condition of being physically strong and healthy." This is something we hold close to our hearts, as we believe that strong, happy, and healthy runners make great athletes. Being strong and healthy reduces the risk of injury and sickness and boosts mental and physical well being, leading to greater consistency in run training. Our personalized approach to run training combines all these factors to create something special—the CMF magic sauce!

We don’t claim to have all the answers ourselves, and we love doing this stuff in the community with others. This is why we’ve grown our dream team of coaches,, along with many trusted CMF Discount Partners that our 1:1 Coached Runners and CMF Run Club Members get access to #cmfperks!
